This 14-day classic tour takes you from the leisurely city of Chengdu to the “Roof of the World” — Tibet. You will visit holy Potala Palace, sacred lakes like Yamdrok, climb near Mount Everest, explore beautiful Nyingchi forests, and experience profound Tibetan culture. It is a journey of faith, nature, and unforgettable memories.
Day 1: Arrive in Chengdu
Welcome to Chengdu, Sichuan. The travel agency will arrange free airport pick-up services, send you to the hotel and help you check in. Today is for free activities and you can make your own arrangements.
Day 2: Kuanzhai Alley – Chunxi Road – People’s Park – Take a train to Lhasa.
Visit the scenic spots in Chengdu city: Follow the fashion trends of Chengdu on Chunxi Road in the city center; Visit Kuanzhai Alley to appreciate the traditional culture of Chengdu; Drink tea in the People’s Park and experience the leisurely time in Chengdu. In the evening, take a soft sleeper train to Lhasa.
Day 3: Enjoy the scenery along the way on the train
The train will pass through Xining, the Kunlun Snow Mountains, the Tanggula Mountains, Hoh Xil and so on. Tourists can enjoy the constantly changing and magnificent scenery.
Day 4:Lhasa
In the early morning, we will arrive at Lhasa, the “City of Sunlight” which is a paradise for pilgrims. The tour guide will meet you and send you to the hotel for check-in and rest. It’s free time for activities on that day.
Day 5: Potala Palace – Sera Monastery and Tashilhunpo Monastery
Visit the Potala Palace, the ancient palace-style architectural complex with the highest altitude in the world – the “Pearl on the Plateau”. It is a concentrated manifestation of Tibetan culture. You can also take Tibetan costume photos with the Potala Palace as the backdrop. Tour the Sera Monastery and the Tashilhunpo Monastery. The latter is the only temple dedicated to the God of Wealth in the whole of Tibet and enjoys a booming incense offering, which is worth visiting.
Day 6: Jokhang Temple – Drepung Monastery – Norbulingka.
Visit the Jokhang Temple, which is a sacred place in the hearts of Tibetan Buddhists; Stroll along the “Sacred Road” – Barkhor Street and appreciate the traditional appearance and lifestyle of Lhasa; Head to Norbulingka and experience the perfect combination of Tibetan culture and gardening techniques.
Day 7: Lhasa – Yamdrok Lake – Karola Glacier – Shigatse
Cross the Yarlung Zangbo River and arrive at the “Heavenly Sacred Lake” – Yamdrok Lake. The clear blue water of the lake blends with the snow-capped mountains in the distance, and traditional Tibetan villages are scattered around, presenting a picturesque and breathtakingly beautiful scene. Then head to the Karola Glacier. The pure white glacier is like a giant Thangka hanging on the mountain wall, shining brightly under the sunlight.
Day 8: Gyachola Snow Mountain – Mount Everest 108 Turns Viewing Platform – Tingri County.
Cross the Gyatsola Snow Mountain with an altitude of 5,220 meters and arrive at the viewing platform of the 108 Turns of Mount Everest. From here, you can overlook the majestic appearance of Mount Everest. With undulating mountains and lofty snow-capped peaks, it’s truly breathtaking. Then reach the Everest Town in Tingri County and experience the life among snow-capped mountains at the foot of Mount Everest.
Day 9: Rongbuk Monastery – Everest Base Camp – Shigatse
Head to the Rongbuk Monastery, the monastery with the highest altitude in the world. Here, white pagodas stand tall and colorful prayer flags flutter in the wind. Looking southward, it is the best place to look up at Mount Everest. Here, you will be dancing with the highest peak in the world!
Day 10: Tashilhunpo Monastery – Lhasa
Visit the Tashilhunpo Monastery, which is the residence of successive Panchen Lamas. The whole monastery is built against the mountain. With buildings overlapping each other and purple smoke rising, the Buddha statues inside the monastery have different appearances, making it a destination for pilgrims.
Day 11: Northern Tibetan Grassland – Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains – Namtso Lake
Cross the vast Northern Tibetan Grassland and arrive at Namtso, the largest sacred lake in Tibet located in Nagqu. The water and the sky merge into one, and the blue sky and the blue lake blend seamlessly, shocking and stirring your soul. In the distance, the continuous Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains are lofty and majestic, embracing Namtso in their arms.
Day 12: Mila Pass – Basongcuo Lake – Kadinggou Valley – Nyingchi.
Cross the snow-capped Mila Pass, and the scenery of southern Tibet will come into view. Visit Basum Lake, which covers an area of more than six thousand mu. The water and the sky merge into one, stretching as far as the eye can see. Tour Kading Valley, with its strange peaks and rocks and towering ancient trees, it is an ideal holiday destination.
Day 13: Cuomujiri – Lulang Forest Sea – Lulang Town
Visit the ancient moraine lake – Cuomujiri. Surrounded by primeval forests and azaleas all over the mountains, it is a natural oxygen bar. In the afternoon, head to the Lulang Forest Sea. The forest sea, sea of clouds and Mount Namjagbarwa together form a distinctive natural landscape.
Day 14: Arrive in Chengdu
After breakfast, take a plane to arrive in Chengdu. Then, according to your respective flight information, we will see you off at the airport one by one for your return journey, thus bringing this pleasant exploration tour of Tibet to an end.
